Church of the Open Bible visited the Mary Dow Center

The ladies from the Church of the Open Bible in Cherryfield recently visited the Mary Dow Center in Ellsworth, for their annual visit since 2010. The project first originated by Connie Leighton, when she was a patient at the Center and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphomia.

While there, a group came in to pass out gifts to cheer up those receiving Kemo. She was so moved by that act of kindness, that she wanted to do the same if given the chance. So begin the visits each year to the Center with homemade gifts made by the ladies.

This year they gave each one that was present a pillow made with different calico prints. They had a chance to meet some wonderful people and listen to their struggles and victories in beating Cancer. Connie praised the staff who encouraged her when life was so uncertain and because of her faith in God, family, and friends. She looks to encourage others. She has been free of cancer for six years.

In the pictures is Connie Leighton talking with a patient and Tracy Taylor standing holding a pillow and all pillows that were delivered to the May Dow Center on Wednesday December 9, 2015.
